Alison Hinds
Queen of Soca, Alison Hinds first caught the attention of music
fans as the lead vocalist of the group Square One. Square
One’s hit “Raggamuffi n” won the Road March during the 1996
Barbados Carnival. The next year she repeated that victory as
well as winning The Party Monarch, with “Twister”; making
her the fi rst woman in Barbados to capture both titles. Alison
recorded eleven albums with the band including the hit single
“Faluma.”
After taking a break from the band to become a mother Alison
returned as a solo artist and began recording and touring again.
The fi rst single “Roll it Gal” from her album “Soca Queen”
became her most successful release to date introducing her to
mainstream radio. “Everything I have done has been working towards
this. To have the opportunity to make my own album and
bring my music to my fans without watering down my sound or
compromising what I am or SOCA is. Nothing makes me happier
as an artist to know that I am bringing joy to new fans all over
the world.”
